Spirit Pub Company

Outstanding training and support

Spirit Group split from Punch Taverns plc and became independent in 2011. Their 800 managed pubs today include brands Chef and Brewer, Faye and Square, John Barras and Flaming Grill.

Once independent, Spirit immediately embarked on a business change programme, requiring them to select new EPoS and web based back office systems. They chose nGeneration as their training partner, who immediately immersed themselves in the business. Training programmes were designed to enable the business change programme in the pubs and provide training material to support the complete initiative. Off-site courses for Managers and Assistant Managers were followed by e-learning aids. They were completed by on-site support at ‘go-live’ with follow-up audit visits.

Training involved over 1600 Managers and Assistant Managers on a two-day, off-site course. E-training involved DVD-based CBT with web-based coursework. The results were monitored centrally so additional training could be provided where required, and compliance issues could be quickly addressed.

In June 2015, The Spirit Pub Co. was acquired by Greene King, instigating a substantial programme of business integration. Standardised reporting and stock management, plus web-based intelligent staff rostering and decision tools, all implemented across the combined managed estate. Once again, nGeneration have been chosen to provide this training and to conduct this substantial programme.
